2010 Chilli Freak Of The Year Eating Contest
he 2010 Chilli Eating contest is on again this year (April-May -TBC). We have the
hottest chillies locally grown by one of Perth’s most respected chilli producers;
Habaneros 4 Gringos. Like last year, it’s all happening in the Habaneros 4 Gringos
commercial kitchen where the hot stuff is created in Malaga.
Contestants will be subjected to some serious chilli zing and the last person standing
will be crowned 2010 Chilli Freak Of The Year.
Chilli Freak Co Director George Helou says, “Chilli eating draws a massive audience
because people seem to like watching other people suffer pain!
Our contestants are joining online every hour since the newsletter was broadcast
as well as many bringing family and friends for moral support. The atmosphere will
be what its all about!“
Chilli has been experiencing a popular growth spurt in the past 6 years. Araluen
Botanical Park, the organisors of the Perth Chilli Festival, which is on March 13-14,
have had to move to Fremantle because of the massive popularity of the event, now
expected to attract well above 20,000 people.
Dr Joe Kosterich, prominent Doctor on Anti aging looks like he will be once again
at the event sharing his knowledge about the health benefits of chillies. It’s also
a good idea to have a doctor in the house!
The winner will receive in excess of $700 worth of chilli and chilli related products
from Chilli Freak, Habaneros 4 Gringos and is likely to attract similar prizes like
last year from Hydroponics Solutions and Black Swan Distillery.
“You would be amazed how many people are passionate about chilli! There is something
for everyone, from chilli chocolate that tingles in your mouth to sauces that alter
your state of mind”
